Under 3.5 Goals Strategy: The Trade That Survives a Goal

Under 3.5 goals is a time-decay trade with a built-in cushion. Every minute without a goal makes four goals less likely, so the Under price climbs. Unlike Under 2.5, one goal doesn't end the trade: the match still needs three more, and the clock keeps working for you. This under 3.5 goals strategy buys Under 3.5 before kickoff and leaves a sell order 10¢ above the entry. With no goal it sells around the 16th minute. With one early goal it sells later, around the 41st. Only two goals in the first half-hour push it past the stop-loss. This guide explains the price path, what beats the trade, which matches to pick, and how to run it automatically on Polymarket with OddsFantasy, by building it yourself or loading the ready-made strategy file.
Polymarket lists full-match goal lines from 0.5 to 5.5 on football matches. An Under 3.5 share pays $1 if the match has three goals or fewer (0-0, 2-1, 3-0) and nothing on four or more (2-2, 3-1, 4-0).
The price is the market's probability. In a normal match with about 2.7 expected goals, Under 3.5 costs about 71¢ before kickoff: a 71% chance, or decimal odds of 1.40. The guide to betting odds shows how prices, percentages and decimal odds convert.
Under 3.5 loses only if four goals come in the time left. Every minute without a goal leaves less time for them, so the price rises even when nothing happens on the pitch. In a normal match at 0-0:
That's the same time decay the Under 2.5 goals trading strategy uses. The difference is what a goal does to it.
A goal in the 9th minute knocks Under 3.5 from 77¢ to 56¢. That's 21% below a 71¢ entry. On Under 2.5 in the same match, the same goal drops the price from 56¢ to 30¢, about 40% below its 49¢ entry. The 3.5 line has a cushion: after one goal the match still needs three more to beat it.
The clock then works for you again. If the next half-hour is quiet, Under 3.5 climbs back past the 71¢ entry around the 28th minute and reaches 81¢ around the 41st. The sell order fills there, the same 10¢ profit, just later. The trade ends on price, not on the clock, which is why one goal only delays it.
A second goal, early. With goals in the 9th and 21st minutes, Under 3.5 falls from 66¢ to 39¢ in seconds. That's past the stop-loss at −35% (about 46¢ on a 71¢ entry), so the bot sells: $5 comes back as about $2.70.
The stop only fires when both goals come in the first half-hour (the second before about the 31st minute). Two goals later in the match leave the price above 46¢, and it can still climb to the target. So the trade has three endings:
Match selection is the edge. The bot filters on price; you choose which matches it watches. Tick slow starters, two teams that rarely score early, with Under 3.5 between 1.30 and 1.50 before kickoff. Avoid sides that go for an early goal. (For how stop-losses behave in thin markets, see how to build a Polymarket stop-loss bot.)
The limit close setting is read in cents (points of chance), not as a percentage of the entry: 10 means 10¢ above what you paid.
The strategy file holds the entry preset, the exit preset and the schedule in one download.
Only stake what you can afford, and check that Polymarket is available where you live.
The cushion. A goal in the 9th minute costs Under 2.5 about 40% of the entry and leaves it one goal from losing. Under 3.5 loses about 21% on the same goal and still needs three more goals to lose, so the price climbs back with the clock.
A sell order 10¢ above your break-even, placed after kickoff. Bought at 71¢, it sells at 81¢. The setting is in cents, not a percentage of the entry.
At 35% below the entry, about 46¢ on a 71¢ entry. One goal never gets there (it drops the price to about 56¢). A second goal before about the 31st minute does.
So every trade starts at the pre-match price. The entry rules are written for the price before the first whistle, and Run in live stays off.
Slow starters: two teams that rarely score early, with Under 3.5 between 1.30 and 1.50. The odds window keeps out matches the market expects to be shootouts.
