Under 1.5 Goals Strategy: Take the Profit Early

Under 1.5 goals is the classic low-scoring bet: it wins if a football match has one goal or none. In a fairly tight match it costs about 25¢ on Polymarket and wins about one time in four, so most people who back it and hold it to the final whistle lose. But while a match stays goalless the price climbs every minute, and a quiet first 25 minutes happens in more than half of these matches. This under 1.5 goals strategy takes that profit early: it buys Under 1.5 before kickoff, sells ten cents above break-even, and holds through a single goal with no stop-loss. This guide explains the line from zero, walks through two real Polymarket matches, and shows how to run it as a preset in OddsFantasy.
A total goals market is a bet on how many goals both teams score together, from kickoff to the final whistle (regular time). With a line of 1.5, Under 1.5 wins on 0-0, 1-0 or 0-1, and a second goal ends it.
On Polymarket you buy shares. When the market is settled a winning share pays $1 and a losing share nothing, so the price works like a chance. OddsFantasy also shows decimal odds ($1 ÷ price): 25¢ is odds of 4.00. See the guide to betting odds.
Across 2,460 Polymarket matches from August to October 2026 where Under 1.5 cost 20-33¢ ten minutes before kickoff, it cost 25¢ on average and won 25% of the time. That's a fair price, and it means three bets in four held to the end pay nothing. Keep your stake, the money you put on each trade, small and the same every time.
A quiet 25 minutes happened in 55% of these matches. A goal knocks the price right down, but with only one goal the clock lifts it again. A second goal ends it.
On 9 September 2026 Napoli played Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League. Real Polymarket trades on Under 1.5:
In this match holding paid more. But holding wins about one match in four, while the quiet start the preset sold came in more than half of them.
On 6 September 2026 Arsenal played Chelsea in the Premier League. Under 1.5 cost 21¢. Chelsea scored in the 2nd minute (9¢, then about 5¢), the preset held for the climb back, and Arsenal equalised in the 25th minute: two goals, worth nothing. That's the loss this trade accepts, and why the stake stays small.

The prices are fair, so your edge is the matches you choose. Look for two cautious teams, a side that's happy with a draw, or a team missing its main striker. Skip any match where one team is far stronger: those are the ones with two quick goals.
Holding for the final whistle. It paid at Napoli v Arsenal, but across these matches it paid one time in four.
A stop-loss after one goal. After an early goal the price drops to about 8¢; a stop sells there, and in a typical 1-0 the price was back near 38¢ by the 70th minute.
Ticking every match. Fair prices mean your edge is in the choice.

Prediction markets carry real risk: a share can go to zero. Only stake what you can afford to lose, you must be 18 or over, and check that Polymarket is available where you live.
One goal or none in the match (0-0, 1-0, 0-1), in regular time.
In fairly tight Polymarket matches from August to October 2026, about 25 times in 100, at an average price of 25¢.
This preset sells ten cents above break-even, which a quiet start of about 25 minutes reaches in more than half of these matches. After one goal it waits for the clock to lift the price back.
Not on this preset. After one goal the price drops hard and then recovers if no second goal comes, so a stop sells at the worst moment. Keep the stake small instead.
