Under 0.5 Goals Strategy: Trade the Quiet Start

Under 0.5 goals is the bet that nobody scores: it pays only on a 0-0. In a match the market expects to be tight it costs about 9¢ on Polymarket and wins about 9 times in 100, so holding it for the final whistle is a long shot. But while a match stays goalless the price climbs every minute, and a quiet first half-hour happens about half the time. This under 0.5 goals strategy trades that quiet start: it buys Under 0.5 before kickoff in tight matches and sells six cents above break-even, with no stop-loss. This guide explains the line from zero, walks through two real Polymarket matches, and shows how to run it as a preset in OddsFantasy, built by hand or loaded from the strategy file.
A total goals market is a bet on how many goals both teams score together, from kickoff to the final whistle (regular time). The line is a half, so Under 0.5 means no goals at all: it wins only on a 0-0, and any goal by either team ends it.
On Polymarket you buy shares. When the result is confirmed the market is settled: a winning share pays $1 and a losing one nothing. So the price works like a chance, and OddsFantasy also shows it as decimal odds ($1 ÷ price). 9¢ is odds of about 11. See the guide to betting odds.
Rarely, and the price knows it. Across 1,444 Polymarket matches from August to October 2026 where Under 0.5 cost 7-12.5¢ ten minutes before kickoff, it cost 9.2¢ on average and won 9.1% of the time. That's a fair price, and it means holding for the 0-0 loses 91 times in 100. Keep your stake, the money you put on each trade, small and the same every time.
While a match stays goalless, Under 0.5 climbs every minute, because there's less time left for a goal. In those same tight matches:
A quiet half-hour happens about half the time. Then a goal comes and Under 0.5 drops to almost nothing within seconds. It can't climb back, because a goal can't be taken away.
On 6 September 2026, Juventus played AC Milan in Italy's Serie A, a match the market expected to be tight. Real Polymarket trades on Under 0.5:
On 28 October 2026, AC Milan played Bologna, also in Serie A. Under 0.5 cost 8¢ before kickoff. Bologna scored in the 8th minute: 2¢, then nothing. The sell order never filled and the stake was gone. That's this trade's normal loss, and it's why the stake stays small.
Download the strategy file on this page. In the terminal, switch on semi-auto entries, tick your matches, open Auto entries, choose Run or schedule a preset and click Upload strategy file. OddsFantasy saves both presets, loads the schedule and previews your matches. It lands on Confirm, with matches that don't pass yet added as pending, and starts the auto exit alongside. Click Start schedule.
The prices are fair, so the matches you choose are your edge. What a trader looks for:
Skip open, attacking matches even when the odds look tempting, because an early goal ends the trade.
Holding for the nil-nil. At Juventus v AC Milan the shares were worth 43¢ at the hour mark and nothing ten minutes later. Take the quiet start the market pays for.
A big stake because it's cheap. A 10¢ share feels like nothing, but an early goal takes the whole stake, and in tight matches a goal came inside the first half-hour about half the time.
Ticking every match. Fair prices mean your edge is in the matches you choose.

Prediction markets carry real risk: a share can go to zero. Only stake what you can afford to lose, you must be 18 or over, and check that Polymarket is available where you live.
No goals in the match: it wins only on a 0-0, in regular time.
About 6 in 100 football matches on Polymarket from August to October 2026 ended goalless. In matches priced as tight (Under 0.5 at 7-12.5¢) it was about 9 in 100.
No. A goal moves the price from about 15¢ to under 1¢ within seconds, so a stop-loss would sell at almost nothing. The stake size is your risk control.
This preset sells six cents above break-even, which a quiet start of about half an hour usually reaches in tight matches. Holding for the final whistle pays only about 9 times in 100.
