Over 3.5 goals wins if a football match has four goals or more. In a match the market expects to be open it costs about 36¢ on Polymarket and wins about 37 times in 100. Its price moves in two ways: the clock pulls it down while nothing happens, and a goal makes it jump. This over 3.5 goals strategy trades the jump: it buys Over 3.5 before kickoff, sells as soon as a goal makes the price jump 20%, and sells through a 45% stop-loss if the first half-hour is quiet. This guide explains the line from zero, walks through two real Polymarket matches, and shows how to run it as a preset in OddsFantasy.
A total goals market is a bet on how many goals both teams score together, from kickoff to the final whistle (regular time). Over 3.5 needs four goals or more: 3-1, 2-2 and 4-0 all win, and three goals or fewer lose.
On Polymarket a winning share pays $1 once the market is settled and a losing one nothing, so the price works like a chance. 36¢ is odds of about 2.8 ($1 ÷ price). See the guide to betting odds.
Across 2,476 Polymarket matches from August to October 2026 where Over 3.5 cost 30-45.5¢ before kickoff, it cost 36¢ on average and won 37% of the time: a fair price. Held to the end, it loses almost two times in three, so keep your stake small.
A goal makes it jump by half again. Then the clock goes back to work, and it still needs three more goals. In these matches the first goal came inside half an hour 58% of the time. The jump is the moment to sell.
On 4 September 2026 Ipswich Town played Liverpool in the Premier League. Real Polymarket trades on Over 3.5:
On 12 September 2026 Liverpool played Fulham. Over 3.5 cost 42¢, fell to 34¢ within ten minutes and 28¢ by the 20th, and crossed the 45% stop-loss at about 23¢ just before the half-hour. It ended 0-0: the stop kept a bit over half the stake.

Look for two attacking teams, two weak defences, or a side that has to win and will take risks. Skip matches where a draw suits both teams.
Holding for the goal-fest. At Ipswich the shares were worth 84¢ after nine minutes and nothing at the whistle.
Buying more as it falls. In a quiet match it's cheaper because time is running out. At Liverpool v Fulham it fell all the way to zero.
Ticking every match. Fair prices mean your edge is in the choice.

Prediction markets carry real risk: a share can go to zero. Only stake what you can afford to lose, you must be 18 or over, and check that Polymarket is available where you live.
Four goals or more in the match, counting both teams, in regular time.
In open Polymarket matches from August to October 2026, about 37 times in 100, at an average price of 36¢.
This preset sells on the jump after a goal, with a momentum exit at +20%. Held to the end, the same trade often pays nothing, as at Ipswich v Liverpool.
It falls with the clock: about 30¢ after 15 minutes and 20¢ after 30 in a typical open match. The 45% stop-loss sells around the half-hour.
